Types of Home Kitchen Sink Installation
Nothing in the kitchen is used more than the sink, Sinks have been used for almost everything including potting plants and bathing the baby. Aside from being useful, they add drama and style to your kitchen. There are five types of sink installations to choose from:
Undermounted
Undermounted sinks create a smooth look which blends with modern designs. The bowl is attached underneath a countertop. No sink rim shows above the countertop.
Integral
The sink and the countertop is created from the same material. There are no visible seams on the surface and is a low maintenance design.
Self-rimming or flush mounted
This type of sink has a rolled edge and is mounted over the countertop. Its dimensions are larger than the opening from the sink bowl and complements well with any type of decor.
Rimmed
This type of sink requires a flat metal strip to seat the sink to the countertop. The rimmed sink is the most common and the least expensive among the sink designs.
Tile-in
This type is used with tile countertops which is designed to be mounted with a tiled surface so that there will be no visible separation between the sink and the surface.
Whatever type of sink installation you choose, make sure that the installation is suitable with the sink material.
