Tips on Keeping your Kitchen Organized

Kitchen Organization
There is nothing wonderful than working in an organized kitchen where you can easily find what you are looking for, be it a lid for a container or a can of tomato paste. Here are some tips on how to keep your kitchen organized.
Think of the flow of activity in your kitchen. You want to place your frequently used dishes near the dishwasher so that it will be convenient when it comes to unloading. Keep your china and serving platters that you seldom use in on the shelves that are the most difficult to reach. It will be out of the way and will free up the space for more frequently used items. Glasses and mugs should be placed on the lowest shelf so that many family members can have access to them easily. Large bowls and serving platters should be placed on a high shelf.
In the freezer, group same or similar foods together for easy idenfication. If you freeze a lot of prepared foods, store them in containers that are stackable for convenience and make sure that they are sturdy. Label all containers with the name of the food inside and when it was cooked or prepared. Practice the policy of first one in, first one out.
Clear your counters of all clutter. Keep only appliances that are frequently used on display like the toaster and coffee maker. Store the others in the cabinet. Organize cooking utensils in holders for easy accessibility and save space.
For your drawers, cutleries should be organized in washable trays and have dividers that separates the utensils by kind. Larger gadgets, such as potato peelers or garlic presses, are easy to find, so they can float freely in the open area of the drawer. Store your pots and pans in a deep drawer where you can pile them on top of each other. Organize small things in a drawer with an organizer tray.
Make use of your refrigerator’s built-in organizational features such as the egg tray, butter keeper and the vegetable and fruit crisper. Juice and water should be placed at the front and at the center shelf. Condiments should be placed in the spaces on the inside of the door. Store foods in stackable clear containers to maximize the space. Don’t forget to label the containers with the name of the food and best before date. Clear your fridge once a week to purge it with foods that are past their prime.
The pantry is often the dumping area of forgotten food. Toss out food that are way past their prime and foods that have not been used for the last year. Organize the shelves by meal. Place a door mounted organizer for additional space.
