Colors in the kitchen like the blue-green refrigerator to the hand painted mural lends the kitchen the colors that makes it a classic, ultra chic and modern or a regular humdrum kitchen. In choosing your kitchen color scheme, there are several things to consider buy if you have not decide yet, then choose colors that will stand the test of time and will outlast any color trends. Classic colors are timeless an are associated with elements of nature like rocks, stones, water, earth and others. These nature colors can be translated to appliances, cabinets and other areas in the kitchen. Choosing classic and neutral colors does not mean that you will be sacrificing your taste and style. Neutral and classic colors can be intense and rich like deep reds and terra cotta which can be translated to rugs, curtains and even cabinets.

For example, for your cabinets, you can’t go wrong with wood because its shade and type is a classic and you can always change the color, the finish and the stain. If you are pining for a specific shade, then by all means go for it but in the mean time that you have not found it yet, why not paint your cabinet white. It will be simple and easy enough to paint over if you are not in the mood to strip the paint first.

Countertops that have bright custom colors and bold new looks will be outdated sooner or later but the classic colors will still be the “in” thing. There are very nice and sturdy laminates with colors of white, green or black and comes in various shades and designs. Colors that are found in natural materials will never go out of style because we can see then anywhere and provides us with a sense of comfort. Colors from materials like granite, quartz and wood will naturally endure time and can even be dramatic like the zebra-type print.

Backsplashes can also affect the grand color scheme of your kitchen and are unique as the homeowner. The most classic blacksplash is the subway tiles. Another one is a custom made mosaic that reflects the colors of the other rooms of the house. If you want to have a big and dramatic backsplash, do not install it directly on your wall. Have it on a removable board instead so that you can replace it easily.

The appliances, especially the big ones like the stove and the refrigerator, can also affect the entire color scheme of your kitchen. Burnt orange, fire-engine red and eggplant are just a few shades you could select for your stove and fridge, but even more popular is stainless steel because has always been around. These colors will stand out but you can always choose appliances that have colors that will blend in with your cabinetry.
