The “cold days” are here again and all your outdoor stuff will need a roof over their heads literally. Your outdoor things will have to be stored for the winter so that, come spring, you will be ready to display and enjoy them again. It will not do good also for these things to be left out in the cold because it will destroy and damage them. But now, the question is, do you have enough space in your garage and outdoor shed to store all your things?

No matter where you choose to store your outdoor stuff, resist the temptation to just randomly dump them or cram as many things as you can. Aside from creating a mess, it will be hard for you to look for specific things and you can’t look around for it properly. It might also damage your things. There are many garage organizers that you can buy at your local home depot. Choose brands that you can rely on so that it will last for a long time. Storing your things in an organized way will make your life easier when you have to take them out again, when you want to look for something or just having a space to walk around in your garage or shed. If you have adequate outdoor space, you might want to consider having an outdoor shed to store all your things so that you can free up your garage for your car and for things that are frequently used.

Whether you store your outdoor stuff in your garage or in your outdoor shed, you have to optimize the space. Optimizing is the key to great organization as well as having ample space to store future stuff. Using your vertical space as well as your horizontal space wisely will give you a large space to work as well as walk without banging on things. You will also be taking full advantage of your space. The more things you dump on the floor, the harder it will be for you to find things. You can install shelves on the walls for storing light to medium heavy objects. You can buy ready- made shelves or you can build it yourself. There are many shelving designs that are DIY and are available in your local home depot. In storing your things on the shelves, make sure that you store only things that are light to medium heavy so that the shelves won’t give way and the wall won’t cave in or bend.

When all your things are stored, don’t forget to check for things that may reek odor to your garage or shed. Things like half-filled paint cans, gas cans and others that can create strong odors. Either get rid of these things or store them in your outdoor shed.
