You can’t compromise a good night’s sleep because you can’t buy it nor can ask for it. A good night’s sleep recharges our body’s energy, heal our body and keeps our well-being and enthusiasm high in order to face another day. It depends on many factors and one of them is the right mattress. The best mattress for you can give you great comfort so that you can have the best sleeping position, supporting your whole body on the right points so that you will wake up refreshed and not black and blue from tossing and turning and from the springs in your mattress. There are many types of mattresses and all you have to do is to choose that right one that you think will give you the utmost sleeping comfort.

Innerspring Mattress
This type of mattress is the most common and popular type. The support system of this type of mattress is made up of coiled springs thus the name. A border wire helps retain the shape of this mattress and gives it a firm support. The upper layer of the mattress is separated by a tough padding or insulator, or a layer of wire netted together that prevents it from settling into the springs. The number of coils that may be present in the innerspring mattresses varies from 300-800 and largely depends on the size of mattress. The relation between the thickness of the coil wire and the number of coils used is inversely proportional. The more coils, the more comfortable the mattress will be. There are different types of coils that can be used in innerspring mattresses. The technique used to connect the coils greatly affects the shape, comfort and durability of the mattress. Some of the most commonly used types of coils are the pocket coil which are cylindrical and are wrapped individually in fabric, opencoil or bonnell coil which have an hourglass shape and is joined to adjacent coils by a wire, offset coil which is similar to open coil but are square shaped and the continuous coil which is a row of coils made up of a single wire.

Foam Mattress
Foam mattresses were first used and made exclusively for the astronauts of NASA back in 1970. The mattresses are used in the spaceships so that the astronauts can relax, sleep comfortably and get some relief from the gravitational force they experienced during the takeoff of a spaceship. This type of mattress takes the form of your body and comes back to their original form when pressure is removed. Foam mattresses debut in 1980 for public consumption. The foam mattresses are made from any of the three types of materials namely, viscoelastic material, latex or polyurethane. The viscoelastic foam mattresses are expensive, but durable and are more popularly known as memory foam mattresses. Latex mattresses are comparatively popular as they make the sleeper feel warm in winters and cool in the summers. The viscoelastic mattresses are sensitive to changes in the temperature. Latex mattresses are recommended for asthma and allergic people as they resist dust and are hypoallergenic. Foam mattresses are difficult to adjust with, in the initial period of use and are not a good choice for heavy people. Consumers always get confused while opting for latex or memory foam mattress.

Air Mattress
This type of mattress uses air to plump up the mattress and change the degree of firmness. Air mattresses with dividers are available and air in both the sides of these mattresses can be adjusted to different levels. Air mattresses are portable and are chiefly used for camping or outdoor trips. They look similar to innerspring mattresses, but in these mattresses, the coil is replaced by air. Air mattresses are also used to a great extent in hospitals as they can be used for pain relief. Initially, these mattresses were very costly, but have gradually become economical.

Water Beds
Water beds are not very popular due to its danger of leakage. A unique feature of water beds is that their temperature can be controlled. People living in cold regions would always prefer water beds. Water beds can be soft- sided or hard-sided. The hard-sided water beds have a wooden frame that provides rigidity to the bed. Water beds are recommended for allergic people as the bed can be cleaned very easily with just a wipe.

Presently, there are many types of mattresses that consumers can choose according to their preferences.
