How to Make a Colorful Bathroom

For most new houses, especially in builder homes, the bathrooms are usually dome in white. White, being a safe and neutral color, will be easy to blend in with the homeowner’s taste in decors and color scheme. If you want to play it safe, then by all means, you can keep your bathroom white but if you want some life and fun in your bathroom, then here are some tips and guide to make your bathroom a colorful one.
1. Face the wall
Wall paints can be dramatic and will certainly add some color to your bathroom. Some homeowners are cautious when it comes to selecting color for the other rooms in their house but they are willing to take the risk when it comes to the bathroom color. After all, the bathroom is just a small room. There is an old decorating saying that states that dark colors should not be used in small rooms but if you paint it with a slight sheen, the room’s light will reflect on it and it will not appear as dark as it really is. You can also add texture and color to your walls at the same time. You can use plasters that will give it texture so it won’t be plain and boring.
2. Furnish it
Furnishings that are well-chosen can certainly add color to your bathroom. They can also be used as inspiration for the whole bathroom scheme. An easy to change furnishing is the window treatment, the bath towels, the shower curtain as well as the area rugs. These can be fun and funky and will provide color as well as texture and pattern.
3. Use the hard surfaces
Hard surfaces in the bathroom can be the tiles and the sink. There are many different varieties of tiles that can be used to add color to your bathroom. There are glass tiles that range in size as well as the color like frosty-milk to amber, orange and reds. These tiles can be used in different ways. It can be an interesting backsplash, mirror frame, tub trimming or covering only the vertical surfaces. As for the sink, there are many beautiful designs to choose from and they are itself works of art.
4. Add your personality
Stamp your personality into your bathroom. Pieces that won’t be ruined by humidity, inexpensive art, decorative glass vases, baskets and even family pictures are only some items that will liven up your bathroom. Plants that can withstand humidity and requires indirect light are also great addition to your bathroom.

Great advice. I like my bathrooms in white and only change my towels, rugs and decorations, such as flowers, every now-and-then and my bathrooms look and feel like a new.
