Overhaul Your Wall in a Flash

The walls of our home are places that we showcase our collection of arts for example or they are the focal point of a room. They may be painted plainly or they can be covered with wallpaper or paneling. Whatever the surface of your wall, it can use an instant overhaul or makeover, especially if you have little ones in the house. The following are fast and easy solutions for common stains on your wall.
Crayon. This is when your little one gets carried over and imagines that he is a famous painter and chooses the wall as his canvass. In order to dissolve the crayon fast and easy, use a citrus-based cleaner. Apply it with a soft cloth. Once the stain is removed, wash the area with regular soap and water. Your wall should be good as new. As a follow-up, have a talk with your budding painter that walls are off limits when showcasing his talent.
Candle Soot. The black marks are actually bits of carbon. They can become an even bigger mess if you try to scrub them off right away. Have a go with it with your vacuum’s dusting or brushing attachment. This way the powdery mess won’t create an even bigger mess when you try to scrub it clean. After you have vacuumed it, soak a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and lightly dab on the stain in a circular motion. Repeat as necessary to completely remove the stain.
Fingerprints. Walls, especially those that are near the light switches, door frames and stairways are prone to hand smudges. To erase the prints, simply spray your favorite all-purpose cleaner on a cloth or sponge and wipe the smudges off. Don’t spray the cleaner directly on the wall because it will make the smudges run down the wall and create an even bigger mess. To make the washed area blend with the unwashed area, rinse the spot with a wet sponge.
Scrapes and Scratches. These can be caused by bumps from the vacuum cleaner, shoes and even your son’s skates. You can try using your spray cleaner and sponge first. If they fail, you can try using Scoth Brite Easy Erasing Pad. Wet the pad first and press it on the scratch. Don’t press too hard or else you will risk marring the paint.
Stickers. To unstuck them, you can soften the adhesive using your blow dryer. Heat for at least 10 seconds then peel the sticker off. Repeat as needed. If there are still some adhesive left, rub it with a cotton ball saturated with laundry prewash stain remover. You can then scrape it off with a spatula. Next damp a soft cloth and blot the area, then allow it to dry.
For walls that are covered with vinyl, you can wash it with a sponge dampened with all-purpose cleaner. Before doing this, test a small hidden area first. For walls that are covered with paper or fabric, use an art gum or any dough-type eraser. Gently rub the stain until it is completely removed. For wall paneling, use a cleaner that is specially-formulated for wood paneling. Don’t use water-based cleaner on unfinished wood panels.
